Hand carved out of a single piece of teakwood, this 1960’s Yugoslavian Shepherd’s Cup was often given to newlyweds a traditional wedding gift.

The exterior’s top and bottom of the “Wedding Cup”, as it was also dubbed in many parts of the former country, contains a zig zagged pattern that also wraps inside and around the handle, and lines the triangular cut outs on its outer edge.

The intricate design on the body are of oak leaves with a stippled design in the background. Oak trees were believed to be a manifestation of divine energy and would be honoured and celebrated in the Slavic regions as early on as the 7th century.
